October 2009 - Bankstown

This page is dedicated to giving updates on the progress of students in Course 156, which started in Bankstown in late October 2009.  This page will track key achievements such as first solos, flight tests, theory and fly-aways.  Also, key dates for the class are included at the bottom of the page.

Latest Update - April 2010

Congratulation to Ettienne for passing your PPL Flight Test, and also for completing 5 of your 7 CPL exams.  Almost finished!

Update - March 2010

Congratulations to Rayan for passing the PPL Pre-Licence, the PPL Exam plus two CPL exams and flying 15 hours all in the same month.

Congratulations to Viliame for passing his GFPT Flight Test.

Ettienne flew the most hours this month, flying a total of 32 hours of which 20 were command.

Update - February 2010

Congratulations to Rayan for passing the Nav 3 Solo Check.

Rayan and Ettienne also passed their GFPT Flight Tests this month.

Ettienne flew the most this month, logging 22 hours of flying, including 15 hours solo.

Update - January 2010

Viliame, Paul and Ettienne all passed their Nav 3 Solo Check a month early.  They will be doing several navigation flights before their PPL Flight Tests.

Congratulations to Paul who passed his GFPT Flight Test. Ettienne and Rayan also passed their GFPT Pre-Licences.

Paul flew the most this month, with 30 hours of flying.

Update - December 2009

Congratulations to Oliver and Ettienne for passing their BAK exams on schedule.

Viliame flew the most hours this month, with 23 hours of flying.

Update - November 2009

Congratulations to Paul and Rayan who both went first solo on the 11th and 12th November - in just over 3 weeks after starting the course.  Paul had 11.4 hours prior to his first solo and Rayan had 12.2 hours experience.

Many of the other students are getting ready for their first solo flights.  Good luck to everyone scheduled for it this week.

Also, congratulations to Rayan and Paul for passing their BAK exams earlier than scheduled.

Rayan flew the most in November, with 22 hours.

October Update

Welcome to Oliver, Ben, Paul, Viliame, Etienne, Ankit, Rayan, Risabh and Mathunithaan.  It is a very international class, with students from Australia, PNG, France and Asia.

Your course co-ordinator will be Preston Foster, and your instructors will be Nick Tratsellas, Anita Christie and Rohan Birk.  Instructors have been allocated 3 students each.

Students progressed well in their first 2 weeks of the course.  Theory lectures covered topics such as Meteorology, Safety, Air Law and the start of Aerodynamics.

Also, students have flown between 6.5 and 9 hours in their first 10 days of classes.

The target for next month, November, will be for students to have passed their first 2 exams (First Solo and Pre-Area Solo) and to be flying solo in the circuit and training area.

Already, Risabh is off to a strong start, flying 11 hours in the first 11 days of the course.
