Flight Camps

Basair's Flight Camps are a great way to go flying during the holidays.

You may even go for your first solo flight!

Basair is pleased to offer the following series of camps for the upcoming school holidays. These camps are a great way to get into flying, see what it's all about, and make serious progress towards gaining a pilot's licence.  You'll have your own logbook at the end o the camp with flying hours logged - either towards a Private pilot Licence, or a Commercial Pilot Licence if you'd like a career as an airline pilot!

Two different camps are available: Camp 1 is for someone who has never flown before, and takes you through all the basic manoeuvres and up to basic traffic patterns around the airport.  Camp 2 follows on from Camp 1 with advanced traffic work, and right through to your first solo flight  if you reach the required standard.

Camp 1 content:

  • 8 hours if flight training with a professional flying instructor.
  • Pilot logbook, and equipment.
  • Ground theory course.
  • Pre flight briefings and de-briefings.

    • Camp 2 content:

  • 7 hours if flight training with a professional flying instructor.  Advanced circuit traffic patterns through to first solo (provided the required standards are met).
  • Ground theory course.
  • Pre flight briefings and de-briefings.
  • First solo certificate.

    • Cost:

    Camp 1 is $2,520, and Camp 2 is $2140.   Each fee includes all flying lessons, ground briefings, course materials, and includes GST.

    Important Information

    In order to go first solo at the end of your holiday camp you must hold the following items:

    1.  Aviation Reference Number (ARN)

      This form can be downloaded from http://www.casa.gov.au/wcmswr/_assets/main/manuals/regulate/fcl/form1162.pdf

       (This takes approx. 2 days for CASA to process and is required before you can apply for your class 1 medical)

    2.  Student Pilot Licence (SPL)

       This form can be downloaded from http://www.basair.com.au/forms/SPLForm.pdf

       (This takes approx. 4-6 weeks for CASA to process)

    3.  Class 1 Medical

     You can find a list of Dr's on this link http://casa.gov.au/avmed/

    (You will need to quote your ARN number when you make an appointment for your class 1 medical)
