Multi-Engine Command Instrument Rating (ME CIR)


Course Overview

The Diploma of Aviation (Instrument Flight Operations) is designed for students who already hold a Commercial Pilot Licence or a Private Pilot Licence, and need an Instrument Rating for either charter, instructing roles or as preparation for a role in an airline.

It i a full time, 20 week course with compulsory attendance from Monday to Friday. There are 2 weeks of holidays during the 20 weeks. Diligent students will be given an opportunity to complete the course in 10 weeks.

The theory for the IREX exam is taught in the first 2 weeks of the course.

Graduates will be prepared for the CASA Instrument Rating flight test, and they will also be awarded with a Diploma of Aviation.


Course Pre-Requisites

Students must hold

  • Either a current Australian CPL or a current Australian PPL, and
  • Class 1 medical

Course Structure

The first 10 weeks of the course are designed to get students prepared for the Flight Instrument Rating (FIR) flight test. Students will be given additional time to prepare if it is required.

Aircraft Types Flown

All flying lessons in the ME CIR course are done with an instructor on board, and are either in a Beechcraft Duchess (in Bankstown) or Piper Twin Commanche (in Cessnock.)

Course Prices

The course fee includes 25 hours of twin aircraft flying and 25 hours in the simulator.
